A Reason to Celebrate!
International Summerstays celebrated its 25th anniversary with a new name! On January 1, 2007 we officially became Andeo – International Homestays. (Andeo is pronounced Ahn-DAY-oh.)
Why the change?
International Summerstays was founded in 1981 as a non-profit organization specializing in short-term summer homestay programs. Today, summer programs are still a big part of our mission; in 2006 over 1,500 students participated in our short-term summer homestay programs. But over the years our homestay programs have grown to include year-round homestays for college students in the Portland area (International StudentStays) and year-round homestay/study programs abroad for college students and adults (Talking Traveler). So many names! Now all of our programs are united under the umbrella of one great name: Andeo – International Homestays.
What is Andeo?
It’s an international network of families, students, teachers, independent travelers and homestay specialists who are dedicated to exploring cross-cultural friendship and understanding. Whether you are opening your home to an international student or stepping across the threshold to meet your own welcoming host family, you are part of the Andeo network. Andeo is about people. Andeo is about cultural adventures. Andeo is about our future in a global community.
