Portland is home to a number of prestigious private and public institutions, such as Portland State University, Oregon Health Science University, the University of Portland, and more. Students can enjoy a visit to the Portland Art Museum, stroll through the Oregon Zoo, learn about the history of the Northwest at the Oregon Historical Society and End of the Oregon Trail Museum, or enjoy science in a hands-on environment at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Portland is only one hour from the beautiful Oregon coast, and one hour from world-class skiing and snowboarding at Mt. Hood (11,249 feet/3,429m).
