Short-Term Homestay:
Exactly 1 month (30 Days - Short-Term homestays are not available from July 1 - August 31)
For students who plan to find their own housing , but want to spend their first month with a family
This homestay offers all the features of a the Classic Homestay, but it is designed for students who plan to find their own housing and want to spend just one month with a family. We recommend the Short Term Homestay for students who are more independent and who can speak English well.

Please note that the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment in Portland is about $750, not including utilities or food. Also, in most cases a Short-Term Homestay cannot be extended after one month.

If you think you may want to stay with a host family for more than one month, we suggest that you apply for the "Classic" homestay. If you decide to leave your homestay before the end of the term, you can receive a partial refund of your term homestay fees.

Placement Fee: $250.00 (non-refundable)
Cost for 1 Month: $600.00
(NOTE: For Fall Term, 2008, Short-Term homestay prices will increase to $700.00 per month)

  • a comfortable private room with access to a study area.
  • meals (self-serve breakfast & lunch an an evening dinner with the family).
  • a home that is close to Portland public transportation. The typical bus commute in Portland is 20 to 60 minutes.

arrival, you will receive an orientation packet that includes an ID card with your host family information, bus route information, and our office contact number.

NOTE:
Please know that the length of a homestay term might be different at each university. Your homestay could last much longer than one term - in fact, most students choose to extend their homestay after the 1st term.  Students must be over 18 years old at the time they move in with their families.  Please contact an ANDEO program coordinator if you have any questions!
