Young adults come on the program to improve their English, to experience American culture and to make new friends. They can stay with families who live anywhere in Oregon or Washington. They do not have organized classes or activities other than what your family plans. However, they are a little more independent than teens and can go out and do things on their own sometimes. It is understood that there may not be kids at home of a similar age. Host families receive a small stipend to help cover hosting expenses.
Intern Program
The Intern Program is designed for young adults (aged 18-30) from France or Spain who want to live with a host family and volunteer for a local organization.
The length of the Intern Program varies depending on the participant. Andeo interns have volunteered for many organizations including OMSI, the Portland Art Museum, the Oregon Zoo, the World Affairs Council of Oregon, YMCA, and Portland State University. Andeo staff members coordinate the internships and help participants settle into their jobs. Host families receive a small stipend to help cover hosting expenses.
