  • Oregon Live you're just 78 miles from surfing (the pacific ocean), and 65 miles from skiing, (Mt. Hood)

What people do in Portland:

  • Willamette Week -Portland's weekly independent newspaper and arts and entertainment guide.
  • Portland Bands -find out about Portland's thriving music scene as well as where to go to hear it!
  • Portland Trailblazers -Portland is home to an NBA basketball team!
  • Timberline -snowboarding & skiing, only 1 hour from Portland!
  • Mt. Hood Meadows -snowboarding & skiing, only 1 hour from Portland!
  • Oregon Coast -the beach is only 1 hour from Portland!

Other useful information:

  • Weather Underground -Portland has a reputation for being rainy (average 37 inches/year)...but it's actually less rainy than Seattle, Atlanta and Houston. Still, we suggest that you bring your raincoat!
  • Tri-Met Public Transportation -Portland has an excellent public transportation system! Learn about how to ride the bus and train, as well as get timetables and schedules.
