From Seattle to LA, the word is "GAP!" "GAP?” That's the word used to describe a growing trend among young people who are taking time off between high school and college, or between college years. Also known as "gap year,” "bridging year," or "time out,” it is time spent traveling, studying, volunteering or working outside of a traditional academic environment. A "GAP" program can last 3 months, 6 months or a year or more
A Growing Trend Last month Andeo staff attended Gap Fairs in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We were thrilled to meet so many young people with so many different interests and goals....from recent high school graduates who want to volunteer on an organic farm in Japan or an ecological preserve in Costa Rica, to college students looking to take a break between terms and work on their Spanish language skills in Spain or Mexico.
Andeo’s GAP Programs At Andeo we know that not every high school graduate is ready to leap directly into the “college” experience - some want real-life language, cultural, and maybe even volunteer experience before they begin their classroom studies. Gap programs abroad give young people an opportunity to experience the world firsthand in a supported environment, to learn about themselves, and to have a meaningful experience before college. College students can also benefit from taking off for a term, semester, or even a year. Andeo programs invite students to live abroad with a welcoming family, immersed in the language and culture of their choice. College credit is available for some programs.
Andeo GAP Programs are customized for each student. We can help you choose your language, destination (choose from 14 locations worldwide!), volunteer activities, dates and length of stay. In each location we work with trusted partners who, like Andeo, are dedicated to providing excellent individual service and promoting international education.
