“The program was one of the first things I’ve ever done by myself and it was great! The classes were fun and a good length, the people were great - I really had a wonderful experience.” ~Jihelah, Spain 2009~
“I had an awesome experience. My host family was a perfect match. They planned some outings and activities, but they were also very good at showing me how people in France really live. The meal times were the best. There were always great conversations. A month abroad improved my French skills more than a year of classes.” ~Hana, France 2009~
“This was the best trip I’ve ever taken! My host family was amazing and our conversations were really fun. My teacher was also great. He made French really interesting and I always looked forward to it.” ~Samantha, France 2009~
“My host family was absolutely wonderful. Every member of the family was extremely caring and helpful in my learning experience. They were all very open-minded and definitely 100% prepared to host.” ~Ani, Germany 2008
“The coordinators have done a great job to make my experience one I’ll always remember.” ~Emily, France 2008
“It was really fun when I went to the beach with my host family. It was also fun watching the soccer games with them and showing them my photo albums. I also enjoyed playing soccer and basketball with the kids from the town because it was a good way to get to know them.” ~Julia, Spain 2008
“The best and most enjoyable parts of my homestay experience were: - Singing Stevie Wonder in the car while driving to Saga and around Nagasaki - Being on Japanese TV twice! Once in a cooking show and the other time on Mentai Waido. - The fireworks! - Visiting a Japanese high school and university and meeting kids of our age. - The food, obviously. - Everything!” ~Christopher, Japan 2008
“My most enjoyable part of this program was learning about the different culture of Spain. I really liked using my Spanish everywhere I went to communicate with everyone around me. I thought it was good that my teachers did not speak English, which forced me to think and really try to communicate with alternate words and phrases. My host family helped me throughout the program and made me feel at home.” ~John, Spain 2008
“The packet from ANDEO with all the information on France and ideas to prepare yourself were really good. In Paris, I loved hanging out with my host sister and her cousins, and I loved exploring Paris with the group.” ~Stacey, France 2008
“The whole family was so nice to me. I immediately felt like part of the family because I would help their two sons with homework, we would share stories, paint houses, visit extended family, and watch TV together. Hanging out with the family was the best part of the trip. The father really liked telling me all about their past and life in general, which was challenging because it used a lot of brain power to understand everything he was saying. It was a real mental workout every night, but it was enjoyable.” ~Rosalind, Costa Rica 2008
“I loved the atmosphere at the school! They made you feel like you’re involved, and if you’re shy, they will try to get you out of your shell and help you enjoy the class. I learned a lot of useful vocabulary.” ~Sonia, Japan 2008
“We went to an orphanage and painted a mural on the wall of their basketball court. It was great to see the less fortunate kids so happy and talk with them a bit. They made us all smile, and I hope they liked what we did for them.” ~Abigail, Mexico 2008
